Svetlana Kim is an entrepreneur, a business woman, and
community leader. She has been actively involved in many political and social
activities including DSCC Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Women's
Campaign Forum, Women Impacting Public Policy, AARP Women's Leadership Circle,
Euro-American Women Women's Council, the Junior League of San Francisco and
Washington DC. Svetlana serves on a Board of Euro-American Women's Council and
past Board member of Kids' Turn.
Ms. Kim served as Director for Strategic Partnerships for NAFE (National
Association for Female Executives with 60,000 members), Business Women's
Network, and Diversity Best Practices. She brought over $600,000 to BWN
(Division of NBC Universal) last year. Business Women's Network, offers a giant
network for business in the United States. BWN is known for its business
resources, its Annual WOW! Facts event in the U.S. Senate and the White House.
Svetlana role was critical to make both events successful. She worked on
securing top speakers, working on program, writing the description of the
panels. Svetlana worked with over one hundred small businesses. They represent
over 1.5 billion in revenues collectively.
She built strong partnerships with Enterprising Women Magazine, Office Depot
Women's Advisory Board, Euro-American Women's Council, WIPP, and AARP Women's
Leadership Circle.
Svetlana immigrated to the United States in December of 1991. She successfully
overcame many obstacles: not speaking English, having one dollar in her pocket,
not eating for three days, no place to stay, no family or friends, and no cell
phone. She started her career from cleaning lady to a Hall of Fame stockbroker.
She never stops dreaming big and pursue her happiness. Svetlana follows in the
steps of her greatest inspiration, her grandmother, White Pearl (her Russian
name,Olga) who was born in Russia in 1917. Her grandmother lives in Russia
today. White Pearl was a trailblazer. She was accepted to the Institute of
Pedagogy in Vladivostok in 1937 to study Korean Literature. She never
graduated. Stalin ordered to herd all Soviet Koreans from Far East of Russia as
he was afraid that Soviet Koreans could spy for Japanese Army during the World
War II. Svetlana's book White Pearl: A Memoir of a Political Refugee" will
be available on Amazon.com this summer and dedicated to her grandmother.
Using the example of her trailblazing grandmother, Svetlana
has followed a roadmap to success for herself and numerous young Asians.
Svetlana dedicates countless hours to helping young Asians achieve the "American
Dream".
Married, she splits her time between Washington, DC, and San
Francisco.
