Competition Drives Honda and Toyota Forward


The U.S. market has steadily taken over by Asian brands. In fact, it has been predicted that the domestic market share will fall below 50 percent this year. The main threat for the U.S. automakers is Toyota’s emergence as a threat to the GM as the largest automaker in the world.

Toyota has cornered 15.4 percent of the market and with the way things are going, it seems that Toyota has no plans to rest on its laurels anytime soon. Toyota has become the focus of attention of the Detroit automakers, but other brands of Asia threatens to claim their market share.

Honda also other Asian car manufacturers who have enjoyed success in the U.S. market. Although not as serious threat to U.S. car makers like Toyota, Japan’s second largest car maker continues to tighten its grip on the U.S. market. Over the last ten years, Honda has continued to grow in the U.S., the stock doubled in the U.S. market to 9.1 percent.

Honda’s U.S. market share is expected to increase as the only car maker that has a fuel cell car certified for U.S. retail buyers. Because the American public has turned away from automotive gas guzzlers, inefficient cars and environmentally friendly fuel in the request.

The use of fuel cells in cars is a big leap forward for the fuel used in cars are much cheaper than gasoline. Not only that. See, fuel cell-powered cars will also generate interest among the many drivers that are environmentally friendly since the fuel cell cars are categorized as zero emission vehicles and has been regarded as one of the truly environmentally friendly vehicles.

Both Toyota and Honda capitalizes on the fact that Americans are looking for fuel-efficient vehicles. Both companies boast rows of environmentally friendly vehicles and fuel efficient. But what drives this car is high both companies is competition.

Competition against the top two car manufacturers in Japan has spawned an unparalleled work ethic in the American car scene. With their constant improvement in their cars, the competition is forced to answer back. It’s healthy competition paves the way for the production vehicle that gets more and more miles per gallon.

Good competition drove the two companies to global popularity. The competition they also give the car a global community that not only fuel efficient but also reliable. In a survey recently released, Toyota sits at the top of the list of the most reliable brand in the U.S. market. Honda, on the other hand, is the most reliable brand both in the market.

Competition between the two auto makers can be seen in the way the Accord and Camry has improved over the years. With the Accord for Honda and Toyota Camry, the battle raged. Both models have received improvements year after year, both companies tried to outdo each other. This competition is likely to heat up once again in the fall, because Honda will launch a new version of the Accord.

While the Camry and Accord will be in the mid-size sedan market, the Ford Fusion is set to steal some market share from the two, but it is a different story altogether.

Competition between the two Asian brands will only continue development in the automotive industry quickly. If current trends continue, the emergence of two Japanese car makers to top the leader board will be difficult to stop, even with EBC rotors and brake pads deliver stopping power.
