Federal grant opportunities

Federal government agencies may be a source of funds for some local programs, but there is a considerable amount of research, preparation and paperwork involved in submitting a federal proposal. The sites below list grants currently available from federal government agencies.

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA)
A database of all federal programs with funding available to nonprofit organizations, as well as state and local governments and other institutions. The section titled "Writing Grant Proposals" is a comprehensive overview of the elements of a well-crafted federal agency proposal. Review this section prior to preparing a proposal for any federal agency. Under "Applying for Assistance" you will find a step-by-step sequence for the federal grant application process.

This Web site allows the researcher to find grant opportunities from all federal government agencies. Click on "Search Grant Synopses" to focus on your area of interest You may also sign up for "Grant Opportunity Notification."
